Vegetable Fermentation and Sourdough Breadmaking

This is a hands' on workshop where you will learn about the importance of the gut microbiome and be introduced to making sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, kefir, vinegar and sourdough bread.

Make and take home 3 different jars of vegetables, to ferment at home.

Enjoy a shared meal, tasting a variety of fermented foods and sourdough bread; you might like to bring something to contribute, such as toppings for the bread.

Be provided with starters, a detailed handout and recipes. 

Please bring 3 small clean glass jars with lids to take home what you have made.

Fruit Tree Workshop – From Planting to Pruning 

Join us for a hands-on, practical fruit tree workshop designed to give you the knowledge and skills to grow thriving, productive trees—whether you're planting your first sapling or looking to fine-tune your pruning technique.

This two-hour outdoor workshop is split into two engaging parts, offering both essential information and up-close, in-the-field learning.

Part One: Planting for Success Learn how to select the right fruit trees for your site, choose the best rootstocks, and prepare your soil. We’ll also cover first-year pruning and disease prevention so your trees get off to a strong, healthy start.

Part Two: Pruning in Practice Then we’ll head into an established orchard for a hands-on pruning session. You’ll learn how to manage existing trees, focusing on winter pruning techniques, seasonal maintenance, and how to work with a variety of species. A great opportunity to gain confidence with real tools and real trees.

What to Bring:

  • Secateurs (if you have them)

  • Gloves

  • A drink bottle

Important Notes:

  • Dress appropriately for the outdoors – this workshop is fully held outside. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe, water-resistant footwear, and weather-appropriate layers.

  • In case of heavy rain, the workshop will be postponed to a backup date. We'll notify you directly if the schedule changes.

  • Please meet at the Mangaroa Farm Shop. Overflow parking is available, from there we will meet and caravan to the pruning site.

Tickets: $35 – Spaces are limited, so book early!

Get your hands in the soil, sharpen your secateurs, and walk away with practical skills to help your trees thrive year after year. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Contrary to popular fast & energetic forms of yoga, yin is specifically designed to relax the body and release tension and stress from the muscles and mind. It is potentially the most simple form of yoga, available for every body, regardless of age, experience or flexibility. Billy’s journeys are focused on rest and introspection, mixed with soothing soundscapes to facilitate an experience of deep nervous system relaxation.
