A guided imagery and music journey offers a restorative and introspective experience where participants are guided to explore their inner world, allowing the body to relax and inviting the mind to expand and explore the depths of consciousness. This restorative journey will give you an opportunity to experience a 'moment out of time', and to journey within yourself with live improvised music by multi-instrumentalist artist and registered music therapist Carlos Riegel.

Carlos holds a gentle space as he guides you into a deep relaxed state using live improvised music, inviting participants to explore their inner world and levels of conscious awareness that may not be obvious in day to day life. Here you will enter a deep meditation bathed by exquisite music that Carlos plays on guitar, voice, drums, flutes, tibetan bowls, gong, and didgeridoo, and more. The use of songs as well as improvised instrumental music is intended do deepen your personal experience, helping you navigate through the journey while evoking memories, emotions and feelings, and meaningful imagery. This is a perfect opportunity to let go of any stress you may be carrying and allowing yourself to journey within and explore your inner world. By the end of the 90min session you will feel peaceful and refreshed.

There will be a brief sharing circle, and time to journal and reflect on your experience. Participants are encouraged to bring a journal to help integrate their journey.

Extra info:
Please come 10/15 mins early to set up and get cosy. Mats and blankets are provided. Bring a pillow, comfortable clothing, and recommended use of eye shades or similar to allow for a deeper experience. There are also chairs available for anyone who would prefer to sit upright.

About the facilitator:

Carlos Riegel is a NZ Registered Music Therapist, his clinical work is centered in supporting people at inpatient, outpatient, and community treatment settings who experience mental health challenges. Carlos is an experienced multi-instrumentalist musician, drum maker, and coordinator of the Wellington Full Moon Drumming event.
