Chop Wood, Carry Water: A Brotherhood Experience
Join Men’s Wellbeing Organisation BROS for a day event grounded in brotherhood, wellbeing, and whenua.
This one-day Men's Wellbeing activation is a collaboration between the crew at BROS and Mangaroa Farms. It’s an open invitation for men of Aotearoa to get out of the city, drop into nature, and reconnect to what really matters — self, each other, and the land.
BROS will host the day, offering experiences and activities for men’s vitality, and Mangaroa will support by offering food, the venue, and in return, we’ll contribute some collective land-based mahi to the Mangaroa Farms project.
What you’ll receive:
A complete charge up for your own masculine vitality
Guided men’s circles to drop in, share, and connect
Practical wellbeing practices to take home
Hands-on experience working with the whenua (land care, planting, harvesting)
Fresh, organic kai – lunch straight from Mangaroa’s gardens
Time in nature, barefoot, grounded, breathing deep
Connection with other like-minded men in a supportive space
Opportunity to give back through service to the land
A break from the noise – time for reflection, movement, and presence
Shared kōrero around the fire – real talk, no fluff
A full day held by the principles of purpose, brotherhood, and mana-enhancing mahi
Who it’s for:
If you feel like:
You’ve been stuck in your head too long
You’re craving real connection with other brothers
You need time in nature to reset
You want to give back, not just take
You’re over small talk and ready for something honest
You’re looking for a new community beyond beers and rugby
At BROS, we believe men can connect to their vitality best when creating and connecting with other men. We use ancient frameworks in a modern context to connect men back to their primal essence, and we have a good time while doing it. This is not about being a macho-rugby-bro, nor is it about being soft and soppy. By walking the middle path, we’re able to integrate our masculine force with open-hearted vulnerability.
We’ll gather around the fire, share some kōrero, move our bodies, get stuck into some good honest mahi, and take time to reflect in nature. The day is shaped around the principles of the Chop Wood, Carry Water kaupapa — showing up with purpose, giving back through action, and deepening connection through service.
This isn't a retreat, it's not therapy, and it’s not about fixing anyone. It's a space to gather with likeminded brothers, to reconnect to nature, to serve something bigger than yourself, and to remember you're not alone in it all.
Tickets are $65 and spots are limited to 15 men. All proceeds go into supporting men’s wellbeing through BROS, and the efforts from the day go towards supporting Mangaroa Farms; a regenerative community farm and learning hub.
The schedule will be emergent: however you can expect time for connection, physical activity, Mangaroa Mahi session, a delicious lunch, and some take-home practices for you to integrate into your daily life.
