Planting Trees for Future Generations

August Newsletter

There's a special kind of magic that happens when people gather to restore the land.

A few weeks back, 25+ volunteers came together with spades, gloves, and big hearts to plant over 1,000 native trees here at Mangaroa. We worked along the stream edge of a newly fenced wetland area, expanding the reach of a young regenerating beech forest.

By the end of the day, the birdsong was louder, the water clearer, and the whenua just that little bit more alive.

Riparian planting like this helps bring life back to our waterways. It invites the manu (birds), cleans up the awa, supports aquatic ecosystems, and sets the whenua up for generations to come.

Afterwards, we gathered for kai and a cuppa, sharing stories, aching arms, and a deep sense of connection.

So let this be your invitation. Our next community tree planting day is coming up on Saturday 6th September, from 10am to 3pm.

Whether you’re a seasoned digger or just keen to give it a go, we’d love to have you join us. Bring your whānau, your gumboots, and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

Lunch provided, good yarns guaranteed. Register below and come be part of the next chapter in this land’s regeneration.

Please enjoy this month's updates from our local ecosystem below.
