11am: Arrive at our Market Gardens
1hr tour through our garden, tunnel house and packing station
12pm: Short caravan ride down the road to our lush and serene kitchen and dining garden space

Our garden tours are designed to immerse visitors in the principles, practices and philosophy of our regenerative & organic market garden. During the tours, knowledgeable guides will share insights into our growing methods, the importance of biodiversity, and how regenerative & permaculture practices contribute to the health & wellbeing of our soils.
Tours are suitable for all ages and are structured to foster engagement and inspiration, encouraging community members and visitors alike to appreciate the importance of sustainable farming in local and global contexts. We’re proud of how we steward this land and provide food to our community, and we’re excited to share it with you.

Our tours are simple, so you don't need much. The main thing is comfort. Please prepare for all weather conditions, particularly in Autumn, Winter & Spring. Even if it's a sunny day, we recommend bringing a jacket as we can be subject to cold winds.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of our garden environments, we do not recommend wheelchair-bound people to participate in our tours. However, if you have an "off-road wheelchair" and somebody to push, you may find it suitable. Terrains we'll cover include grass (sometimes wet and muddy), and mulch wood-chip pathways.

The tours run for approximately 1 hour.
Note: the whole farm-to-table experience runs for about 2.5 hours, from 11am to 1:30pm -
Rescheduling Bookings
We prefer if people stick to the booking that they have originally ordered. If you have a unique circumstance and would like to rebook for another date, you're welcome to.
RefundsIf you're requesting a refund, we can offer it, however only if you cancel your booking more than 24 hours before the tour time.

Not at all! Our tours are designed for everyday people to understand. Naturally, if you are keen in the garden, you'll have lots to be excited about. However, if you're not, don't worry — our tours are offered with very simple language so you'll be able to follow along easily.

We're located at 98 Whitemans Valley Road, Upper Hutt, 5371. Click the link to find us on Google Maps.

We have plenty of parking. We kindly ask our tour guests to please not park in the Farm Shop carpark, but in the paddock next door. You can find this parking by following the “overflow parking” sign at the gate. This helps to enable spread of traffic across different areas, supporting our other Farm Shop customers.

Due to the complexity of garden operations, we can't always guarantee your ability to contribute to the farm. However on occasion we may have small, simple tasks available for tour attendees to add their energy to the farm.

Absolutely! We aim to always schedule our tours around the opening hours for our Farm Shop / Kete Kai so our visitors can enjoy our full range of offerings.

Health and Safety is a big priority to us at Mangaroa Farms. While we design our tours to be as safe and hazard-free as possible, we understand that sometimes unexpected events can occur. Thus, all of our guides are trained in first-aid, and we have an emergency AED available on site as well. If you have any further health & safety concerns, please email welcome@mangaroa.org and we'll be happy to help.
