Tree Planting on the Mangaroa River

You might have noticed if you drive over the one lane bridge, that we’ve done a whole lot of planting along the Mangaroa Riverbank and next to the road

Thanks to our regeneration specialist Liv, and the skill of our local fencer - we’ve installed a more solid fence to separate the riparian strip next to the river from our grazing pastures, so the new seedlings can thrive without the threat of being picked at by sheep and their new flocks of young lambs - see below for pictures from earlier in the year.

We’re passionate about planting next to our waterways because of all the holistic benefits that it produces, including decreasing soil erosion and sediment runoff in the river - whilst also increasing animal and plant biodiversity of the area, creating new spaces for insects and birds to call home.

This effort is part of the 13,000 eco-sourced seedlings we are planting this season around the farm & waterways, and we love that our local community can watch them grow
