Continuing a Legacy: New Opportunities at Mangaroa Farms

As we reflect on the past few weeks, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible support and enthusiasm from our growing community. We were thrilled to be featured on Country Calendar a couple of weeks ago, sharing our story and vision for Mangaroa Farms with viewers across Aotearoa. The response has been heartwarming, and we are deeply thankful for the connections we’ve made and the shared passion for regenerative farming.

With each new season comes change, and we’re excited about the future ahead and the role we play in shaping resilient local food systems here in Aotearoa. As we look towards the future of Mangaroa Farms, we want to take a moment to honour someone who has been an integral part of our journey—Jules Matthews. Jules has been the driving force of the birth of what is now known as Mangaroa Farms, laying down a foundation of passion, dedication, and resilience. Her mahi across the farm and kaupapa of Mangaroa Farms has been nothing short of incredible, and we are forever grateful for her leadership and vision, deeply intertwined into the whakapapa of our inter-generational mission. While Jules will transition to focus on her role as a director at Mangaroa Farms and an agroecological coach and educator in regenerative agriculture, we look forward to continuing our journey with her in a new capacity.

In the meantime, we’re glad to have ongoing support in the farm in the form of Gav. Gav is an all-round farm legend and has already been imperative in the transition that our farm is undergoing. We’re incredibly grateful to this man for being a solid bridge while we redesign our farm team structure.

As Gav grabs the reins and steps into further leadership, we’re looking to fill two key roles which are integral to the continued success of Mangaroa Farms, specifically a Farm Manager as well as a Casual Shepherd.
